First NbS4Drought stakeholder workshop

First NbS4Drought stakeholder workshop

The German showcase of the Horizon Europe project NbS4Drought, led by Bodensee-Stiftung, held its first stakeholder workshop on 17 June 2026 in Überlingen. The workshop was organised by EIFER and HEREON (Helmholtz Centre) and hosted by Bodenseestiftung. It brought together water experts from public administration, environmental associations, and planning offices in the western Lake Constance region.

The first part of the workshop, led by EIFER, focused on evaluating ecosystem services. Invited experts completed a capacity matrix to determine the extent to which different ecosystems can provide these services. The results will be used to assess the potential impact of nature-based solutions on these services and the cost-effectiveness of restoration actions. As well as getting to know this research method, the experts valued the event as an opportunity to network with their peers and discuss solutions for water retention in the landscape.

EIFER is currently planning workshops for the remaining six showcases (two in Poland, two in Denmark and two in Spain).
